The Moving Relationship

Workshop Zürich 2015

“The Moving Relationship”  One Day-Shot-Workshops

The Moving Relationship goes on! After the success of the workshop series we offer new a series of A One-Day-Shot-Workshops on partnering work of the contemporary dance. The first three dates are happening before the summer break and will be continued regularly in autumn. Each workshop deals with a specific topic and can can be booked independently.

Saterday 6. June

Let`s Stick!

The work with the stick is based on improvisation and gives to the movers the opportunity to execute an instantaneous composition in space. Playing with the distance between the bodies, we will share intimacy and complicity and be dealing with the questions: distance and space can be manipulated to create an intention towards my partner? An emotional state? A narrative leitmotiv?

Saterday 20. June

The Light Weight

We will focus on the physical principles of touch, contact, momentum and shared weight and learn how to exchange the weight and how to make the transitions between weight-sharing moments fluent and smoothly. We will access different body states and change from one body tone to another.
Exploring the skills of leaning against a body and the ability to counterbalance the weight, we will learn how to support and use the weight of our partner also in motion; to lift our partner using minimal effort as well as making ourselves light while being lifted in static and off-balance situations.

Saterday 11. July

Ready for Landing

We will look at different ways of giving and receiving weight in the action of leaning, climbing and jumping onto a partner. We will learn to jump onto each other, and to catch and absorb the impact of the jumping body without breaking the flow of the movement. We will be learning dynamic partnering sequences in which we will manipulate each other in different ways moving in space.

In each workshop we will develop trust and listening within the group, being responsive to our partners and surrounding. Games and exercises will be proposed to stimulate emotional reactions. We will experience what it means to cause and to receive an action in different ways: intimate, fragile, invasive, aggressive and so on.

Partnering is valuable:

-to enlarge the spectrum of dancing relationships between partners
-to assimilate a creative application of skills useful for other types of dancing
-to dare and take risk in a safe atmosphere of mutual respect
-to trust the human body far more than before
